(I found this fitting for this as well. o3o)
She was confused. A bit upset. Panicky, even.
After crawling out of her protective shell, she had met so many people. She had another father figure to look up to for support and protection. Someone to fight with and to also be great friends with. Yet another who she could cling to in times of danger, her first friend's greatest enemy, even! And the twins who continued to try and persuade her into thinking that they weren't scared when she herself was just as scared as they.
But were all the times she said "I love you" misinterpreted?
All she wanted was family. Someone to hold onto, to replace the empty hole in her heart. And instead, she was given too many who saw her in a light that may make her seem beautiful, but not in the way she expected. All of the deep kisses, the moments where things went farther than she would have rathered... What had happened? Had she done something wrong? She couldn't understand. After all, she was thrown into love at a young age. She was taught nothing about signs and gestures, what meant this and what meant that. She was simply stumbling in the dark.
And then there was him.
The elder brother of her first friend, the one who intrigued her just as much as she did him. She was, at first, terrified. But as time went on, she noticed something... Strange in his eyes. A sadness. Loneliness, almost. She looked to all of the others who dared to come close. Some were already happy, others became happy when she entered their lives. Then, she looked towards the one she dubbed with a cruel nickname. Was this a pang of guilt she felt? Empathy?
She had to admit, before she was introduced to everyone she now conversed with daily, she was lonely. Cold, even. Perhaps he felt the same; perhaps she could try and fix that. After all, she had done the same to countless others. She just had to do it right this time.
Then came the day he confessed to her.
She couldn't help but stare at him. Her mind was filled with shock, disappointment, but also deep pain. Yet another felt love for her in a romantic way. Yet another didn't understand. She coughed, looking away. No, the tears couldn't flow. Not now. If that happened, she would be taken into a warm caress, and she wouldn't be able to do anything but melt into it all, not conveying the message she so desperately wanted to send.
And so she walked away, seemingly into the crowd.
However, she walked past, tears streamed down her cheeks. Her hopes, and her heart, were utterly smashed.
[I MADE HER SEEM LESS HEARTLESS.]
[BUT NOW MY HEART HURTS.]
